-A smart design solution for monitoring Posture and Health factors( Heart Rate) of factory workers
It was my thesis project in my master’s studies. It does have Intellectual Property associated with my alma mater. So I should not display everything over here. Since I have joined in IISc as a Product Design student UX plays a subset here. Ergocheck is a posture and heart rate monitoring device for factory workers. My learning in this project is decision making, project scheduling, Prioritizing the problem definition. It sounds more than just a design but that’s what IISc teaches. I could also learn electronics and now can work in IOT as a designer who can analyze a prototype by developing it. The project got all my skills from User Empathy to programming. Hence overall it gave me the satisfaction of understanding product development.
Time spent on this project was a year. Three months were spent on the research and three months were spent on the design and development of the project.
The following table shows User Journey Mapping for the project. The method used for this task is Customer Journey Mapping tool by TU Delft.
In the following method... the actors (user, service and the devices) are mapped into the process of monitoring workers. Here the actors are divided into human and non-human categories. This process helps to see the frustration, motivation, touch points of the stakeholders
Further, it can be used to find the opportunities to solve the problem
After looking at the matrix and the touchpoints it is possible to find opportunities within the service
-The design solution should be monitoring the posture and the health factors while workers are working
-The design should have self-calculating function and digital report providing solution
-The design should not interfere with the workers while working rather should be easily wearable and removable
